The better wireless ones are over $300. The cheaper wireless I hear are a little "iffy". There is a ventor on this site that sells better ones (used for bigger trailers) that work well. Walmart has a Lic. Plate one for $100 (wires). It's not a tough job to wire it. Most places would charge around $60 to wire, if you went that way.
Got to work this morning and a friend was telling me all about his new back up cam. Seems it is the same as mine but a newer version. Now it seems to have an antenna built into the hook up wires for the cam itself with a "do not cut" label on it. Should increase the reception quality a bit. I am running right out to costco to get one (90.00).

More details please! Name, brand, number...and when your done, a review would be nice!
Okay, put the newer version of the camera on. The newer one only has 2 buttons on the monitor (no contrast, no brightness controls). It works with my other monitor though. 1st thoughts, although the FJ never left the garage. It may just be me but the image seems wider and it definitely seems better than the old one (as I mentioned before, the newer one seems to have a bit of antenna sticking out of the camera and a place where it says "do not cut past here"), it does not seem to "distort" or "break up" like the older one. Again, the proof will be in the pudding, we will find out after I take her out for a spin but that will probably not be until this weekend (hopping back out of town for a couple of nights this week). Overall, for less money than I spent on the older one ($90 vs 130) and simplicity of install, I would say that this is worth it. It is certainly not the best, but I think it is a good value.
Just to remind everyone, I mounted mine to my GoRhino hitch step, wired it into the 4-pin harness on the running light wire....
1) If the hitch step is off, I am towing something, camera no-good
2) I can turn the camera on and off with my "lights" switch. At night, if I do not want the glare of the monitor (because the running lights are on so the camera will be on), I just turn off the monitor.
3) The monitor I mounted to the left of the steering wheel in the blank silver area.
4) If you do not want the hitch step (I broke off the "ears", made an "L" bracket and screwed it to the hitch step), you can still break off the mounting "ears" and sticky it to the bumper (if you do not want to recess it), drill a hole for the wires and you are on your way.
I would think lining up the hitch ball would be a great use...
Are you going to have your work truck or FJ on Friday?

Work truck, boo-hoo!
Yeah, you are right about the lining up thing but.....
Through the years, I have gotten d@mn good at it (though I do like those little liney-uppy thingies you have) and as a last resort, just get the FJ in range and move the trailer (either the lttle tent trailer or the little 4X8) to it.
Does something magical happen at 500 posts? Like I get to quit my job and enjoy the life of Riley? Run away, just me and my FJ? Or is the magic wand broken and I am stuck here?
