I just removed the Eclipse AVN6600 CD/DVD from my Tacoma and am awaiting the arrival of my TRD. I had the backup camera and will be putting it on also. Between the sensors and the camera any thought of "poor visibility" went out the window. My vote is YES.
Just installed mine. camera in the bumper with the screen above the rearview mirror. Great view. Ran wires under roof liner. Of course not so good at night. Glad I did it.

For those who live in Canada, I see Canadian Tire has one on sale this week. I don't know how good it is but you may want to check it out in the flyer.
I made my own for my wife's sienna, but I probably won't do one for the FJ. So far, the visibility is not an issue with me. But that could change....

PFJ, you are supposed to mount the camera on the licence plate. Since the plate is not centred on the FJ, I am wondering how good a view you actually get.
