Single DIN Headunit

I have a sub, newly replaced infinity front door speakers, and 2 amps, but I want to replace the factory head unit with a pretty basic single din deck that will give me a spot to control my system in one spot. I was not sure of what I needed(and if it will at all work) in terms of the special pieces I needed to place in the bigger sized factory spot.

both metra and scosche make fit kits for a single din HU. I looked at both and went with the scosche, but they are both pretty similar, and either would have worked for me. you gain a small pocket beneath the HU, which is pretty unusable, maybe 1/2 inch tall. I can fit a few receipts and a pen in it, and that's about it.
