Re: turn the DRL's OFF!

Found here

and seperates here

The trick is to feel for the release with your thumb. It won't seperate without depressing it.

Good luck.

Look in your MANUAL... you can turn them off, and you can disengage your door lock beeper too... and many other things that may or can annoy some people.
if you don't find the right info there, then call your dealer they can tell you how!
It's not in the manual.

Re: turn the DRL's OFF!

No, the manual says to turn them off you need to turn your lights on (duh) or turn the key to the off position (double duh).

Re: turn the DRL's OFF!

Oh, I forgot. If you seperate the connector, just push it back together but not far enough for it to lock. It will tidy up the dangling pieces and will still be "off". I even took my FJ for a swim with it like this and had no problems.

Re: turn the DRL's OFF!

Texas has a few drive-ins that are just like regular movie theaters running first run movies. Also my wife is currently breastfeeding our new baby...well not this exact moment but you know what I mean. Anyways its nice to be able to sit in the parking lot at wal-mart and let them do their thing without attracting more attention than the FJ already attracts by itself.

So is there a way to rig up an override switch in a blank switch pannel?

My workaround won't work: FJ computer hacks... ???

If you turn vehicle off then engage e-brake, then recrank the fj, the drl's stay off until e-brake is released.

Re: turn the DRL's OFF!

This trick is freakin awesome! Its not as easy as a simple switch but its easy enoug to do at the drive-in and then plug it back in when its time to go home! Maybe next years FJ will have a regular switch like it should have, but for now this is good enough for me. Thanks for the detailed pics and description

That's easier than using the parking brake??? Different strokes, I suppose...
