Bill, go to Toyota.com and look at the standard features list. The DRL's are listed with na O/P, meaning there are optional, and feature available only as part of an option packages. It turns out the DRL's come with the CQ package. There are so few truly basic FJ's sold that no one here has mentioned that they don't have DRL's. F J LO must be one of the very few.
Ah yes.... Interesting. Forgot about that. Thanks!
I had mine unplugged for a while but I hooked them back up. I like em. Seems more alive, like its eyes are closed when they're off. I dunno.
Something I thought interesting... I was under the impression that most cars these days had DRLs, but when I'm driving around I notice that very few have them on. I know they're not all turning them off intentionally, they just don't have them.
A cross between quasimoto and the elephant man..... But only the good parts!!!!!
Hello chewey46 it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

I think DRL are a great safety feature. People pulling out from side streets onto a thoroughfare will notice you better (DRL are one more feature to catch a driver who only performs a quick glance - vehicle shape, color, and LIGHTS). The only time I envision shutting off DRL's would be off-roading and/or off-blacktop driving with the hope to catch a glimpse of wildlife. I'm thinking about buying another set of male/female connectors to go into the ones you disconnect to turn off DRL's and route wiring to a switch on the left side of the dash (use one of the blanks).

I hope you guys figure out a "How To" before my dad's Ford explodes again and I have to do all the driving when we go hunting

You said that you were raised in a family of engineers. Are you the only one with a Toyota?, or do any others have an FJ? Maybe your dad, brothers, and/or sisters should just turn their engineering licenses over to the smart one in the family. BTW, I'm glad that you resurrected your old avatar.

ok after getting through a few pages without a definite how to disable the DRL's.. im asking if anyone has the how to? or can link me...
i was hoping since this was a sticky that the actual info was the first post...
Im the kind of person who drives with my lights on driving anyways during the day (i turn on my headlights in the FJ anyways) so dont go flaming.
BUT i want to have the DRLs off while im on trail so i can bling up headlight strobes
