I drive in Florida and I can attest that anything you can do to make your auto more noticeable is a very good thing. There have been a couple of times that I have seen (older) people driving on a day full of clear sunlight with the winshield wipers on and neither of the people in the front seat appeared to be aware of the wipers. This is a bad sign.
Also, during fog or rain, people with cataracts have an increasing problem trying to discern specific objects out of the grey haze that they see.
Anything you can do to make yourself more visible is well worth it.
Yes, Another reason to mod.

Dude, just tried it....they are off until you put it in drive. We want something that stays off right??
Only BDFJ and FJ Dragon were close. And Thanks to BDFJ And FJ dragon for being correct. If you read FJ dragons response, you will have your answer. So I modify my previous post; one out of 151 posts were correct.

I agree this thread is too confusing for a stickie. Dragon, and several others, are accurate about disconnecting the connector to disable DRL. The innaccurate posts, bad attempts at humour and DRL safety debate are confusing to any newcomer ( and any oldcomer for that matter) to this thread.
Maybe a Mod could clean it up, keep accurate info and close it? JLAM?

The release is located on the outermost piece to the driver's side and front of the FJ. You can feel just a slight "nub" on it and that's what you press. It's a real BIATCH to press it. I had to wear a thick, longsleeve shirt to keep from tearing my arm up, but it finally popped loose.
