I wasn't going to do this mod, but I have caught myself driving at night twice now with the lights off because the DRLs tricked me into thinking all my lights were on. Sucks. In my work van, it does work that way - DRLs + taillights.

I have found that it gets hard to read the dash fast with the lights off. Look down for the speed and can't see a damn thing. Turn on the lights..
Actually I rarely look there because the GPS shows me the speed up top and all that ... plus ... when I am low on gas I stuff a CD holder to remind my senile ass to stop!

what happens if water ends up going into the drl connection that was disabled? does it the electrical system short out... kinda confused on that part
br1anbae, just push the plug back together again but not far enough for it to "click" and it will be fairly water tight. I have had water higher than the fitting on that side twice and there have been no ill effects.

Does anyone know if it will be possible to turn the daytime running lights off?
Permanently?
I never caught on to the point of DRL's. If you can't see during the day, DON'T DRIVE! If you cant see other cars during the day, DON'T DRIVE! Oohh I know! I'll shoot beams of light at everyone so they can see me! Maybe I could just drive around with my high beams on, I've seen that more than I care to remember.
Want me to tell you how I really feel?
Thanks, Can't wait to get home to try. I exchanged several emails with Toyota who said the DRL's were an option and since I bought the option I was stuck with it. No way to turn it off! Said to not mess with the factory settings and so forth.
Hey guyies thanks for the tips. Kinda sucks when your hunting and telling everything for a mile that you headed their way. I got em turned off, and will probably leave them off.
[quote=Joe Lech III;206605]OK so we all know how to disable our DRL by disconecting the the connector behind the headlight or by pulling the emergency brake and turn off and on FJ..... the million dollar question is, has any one run a switch to the dash so you can turn them on and off??....QUOTE]
