I just installed a switch so that i am able to turn the drl's on and off. To do so I removed the front grill , the trim piece under the driverside turn signal, and the driverside turn signal. This gave me alot of room to disconect the drl connecter. I the cut the blue wire(before the connecter)and connected a wire to each end. I the ran the two wires through the gromit in the firewall(driverside). Then connected them to the Taco fog switch. pin 1 the main lead. pin 2 + pin 3 the return run. pin 4 ground. This alows the drls to be turned off and on. Reason for connecting pin 2+pin 3 together was that I wanted the switch to illuminate when the drls are off.Sorry no pics. I was almost done when I thought about it. And yes the high and low beams work when the switch is off.

I have always been curious why you would need to add a switch to turn the DLRs off. Doesn't the headlight switch do that? I disconnected my DLRs a year ago. If I want daylight running lights I turn on my headlights. They will still shut off when I lock the vehicle. So what purpose does the added switch serve? I must be missing something....

This way I can use the drl on two lane roads with out having the rest of my lights on. They will pull less power then if I had the night time lights turned on. Plus it was something to do on a rainy Oregon sunday.
Like about 50 watts? translates to about .0002 miles per gallon! Do you also leave the radio off? I am still confused
A penny saved is a penny earned.......
I'd love to see your calculations...
AND......i do agree with you. If you want really save big money..maybe a couple of bucks a year (don't aske me for calculations)
I suggest changing to HID lighting

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "Holy crap, what a ride!"
Keep them on. Anything to lessen the chance of an idiot on the road (there are one or two out there) pulling out in front of you, or seeing you on a 2 lane road is a good thing. Just remember...not everyone is in their 20's and a decent driver.
My grandfather in Jersey was driving til 2 years ago. He's 93. Drove his new BMW 525i into another guy on a wide road coming the other way. Oh ya and he drove up an offramp the wrong way.
If these things help people see you better, it's worth keeping
Excellent

No, I didn't do the calculations... I sounded smart for a minute though!
