If you pop the fuse box, theres a nice lil fuse that says DRL. All Toyotas havem. I'm keeping mine because I just found a new use for them. DRLs are dimmed compared to the headlights. So your using alot less power, but when your driving around in a lit city where you don't need the bright headlights, thats when the DRLs come in handy.
Does this really work? I've always heard this. BTW, where IS the fuse box on the FJ?

Re: turn the DRL's OFF!

I would like to be able to turn mine off when I come on base, the poor Gate guards get blinded everytime, I turn off my headlights but the driving lights stay on, I like them during the day, so I just unplugged mine, and run my headlights all the time.

Keep in mind when using DRLs at night that your tails lights are dark. Also the saving of gas by doing so is like really puny.

x2. I'm sure I said it somewhere in this post, but I continue to drive with my lights on for safety, but want the option to turn them off for many reasons. Those two are good ones. I also like to turn them off when pulling in a driveway in the late at night hours so as not to have my lights blasting into a house with sleeping people in it. ...idling outside in the winter with the heater on looking at the stars. etc etc etc.
X3 Here in the massive traffic in So Cal they just help to get ya seen. But there are times e.g. like sitting in a drive thru etc that its nice to be able to flip the switch. IMHO

Re: Turn the DRL's OFF!

Regarding the disabling the DRL's, I've read all the recommmendations from cutting the wire under the DRL relay to disconnecting the gray connector near the driver's headlight. I was wondering, what happens if you just simply remove the DRL relay or DRL fuse or both?

Thanks,
Jim

Re: turn the DRL's OFF!

I have travelled up to 3 hrs away, at dusk/night with only the DRL's on.
I hate them.

Plus shouldn't they switch OFF at night?? Daytime Running......
My wife's old Matrix had the sensor, THAT did nothing!!!
