In the wide open country setting I'd rather not have them. I like to be in control of my vehicle. If I want headlights on, then I'll turn them on. IF I want to do 90 down a 2 lane at night without headlights, that's my choice. .
You are also the idiot that kills the family of 6 coming home from a day in the country and you survive without a scratch.
I would like to see them come on automatically everytime you start the car, but with a manual over-ride so you can turn 'em off when you dont want/need em, such as at the drive in.

I agree that it would be nice to be able to override the lights when: (1) you go to your car to warm up, or get out of the wind/rain, (2) drive slowly up a trail where you hope to see wild life, and/or (3) want to turn the key to listen to the radio in a non-driving situation.
When I first read the post I thought of drive-in theater and was going to say "Cool you guys still have a drive-in movie?" By now realize by drive-in you meant tasty freeze or tater tot house.
We've actually still got a drive in here in Vegas. Haven't been yet, but I might have to check it out in the FJ.

Percy - when going to school in Golden, three of us guys bought a Coors pony keg and took it with us to the drive-in to watch the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns (all three: Fist full of dollars, Few dollars more, and the Good, Bad and Ugly). The ticket attendant wouldn't believe there wasn't another guy under the blanket (pony keg), so we ended up buying four tickets. Just one of many great memories of the drive-in.

when the engine is started, a signal from the generator is input into terminal a14 of the body ecu. the wire that carries this signal is green with a gray stripe. it can be found leaving the DRL relay in one of the relay blocks under the hood. The rest is up to you.
Daytime running lights aren't that bad. Most vehicles you have a button or something for turning them off. We'll just have to see... shouldn't have to hack a wire to make em' go away.

ive got both, actually. back home, that is. there is a 50s style drive in restaurant, carhops and everything (no skates thought). we also have a 4 screen drive in theatre too.
