Pictures Added For My Stereo Install ... Yikes What A Mess

I have not been too pleased with the sound quality of my FJammer unit, as I've noted before. Those of you that have done this, please let me know of any surprises you encountered as I remove the interior of my FJ. So, I am about to embark on the following:

Dynamat all panels, and the roofliner.
Two Myron and Davis headrest monitors
One Alpine IVA-W200 headunit, with Sirius, Ipod cable, Steering Wheel control module
Alpine Navigation
Alarm system with Remote Start

I figure I will be more than a week or so getting all this done, so any tips and tricks will be greatly appreciated.

Also, I need a recommendation on the best Ipod suited for my Alpine unit.

Re: Alright ... About To Embark On My Ultimate Stereo

with the alpines, i am not a fan of their interface. i use the peripheral interface that allows me to control everything but the volume from my ipod. much easier and more organized. if you want top notch gear with the best ipod interface and navi, go with the eclipse avn6600. if you want even more SQ, you have to go aftermarket with the rest. i think i am the biggest SQ freak out there as far as this site goes. i just ripped everything out of my truck so i can sell it, and i have aftermarket speakers running off an eclipse deck and it sucks. i cant stand deck power.

Re: Alright ... About To Embark On My Ultimate Stereo

Ever heard of "Quiet Car" by Quiet solutions? I just did it to mine and it made a big improvement in sound deadening and sound absorption. It works better than dynamat, it also absorbs sound, and it's less expensive. I'll try to post pics of my install soon. No real surprises when taking out the interior, just a lot of plastic. Try and run better cable (monster, MIT, etc.) and run power away from speaker cabling, on separate sides if you can.

Re: Alright ... About To Embark On My Ultimate Stereo

I am not familiar with the Quiet Car product. I used Dynamat since I am comfortable with their product, know how to install it, and I can get my hands on it quickly.

Thanks for the input on the wiring, and essentially I will be rewiring all of my audio systems. Too many common areas of sound and power in the factory bundles. All of my stuff will have super clean power and comms.

Just wait until we start seeing powernet in our cars.

Re: Alright ... About To Embark On My Ultimate Stereo

Here are a few shots. My camera was MIA when they first started, and that is probably a good thing. To disassemble the headliner and install dynamat took an entire day. Actually the disassemble-dynamat-replace took the entire day, and I was really stressed. Day two has been much smoother. Dynamat across the floor and all panels. Alarm and remote start in, Sirius processor in.
