stereo finally done

So i got my single din Metra kit in today, and it is installed. Now if I can just get the EQ system dialed in it will be perfect for me. This deck is way to complicated for me, trial and error is the only solution to tuning this thing.

Re: stereo finally done

With decent double din DVD players for $300-$400 I don't understand the logic in going with a single non-DVD player. Did you own it before, a carry over? Very nice setup though sir.

The bass test is if it is strong enough to rattle the connector in front of the forward dome light .

Re: stereo finally done

Yep, this is deck is out of my scion, and was a x-mas present last year, and Kenwood doesn't make any double dins for less than around 800.00 dollars, I will not use jensen or dual. And believe me this is probably the best competition sound quality deck Kenwood has ever built. Brand new it was around 600 retail, and she got it at cost from a good friend, smae guy who installed everything in the FJ. Granted I plan to do no competing or sound-offs but, this deck is hard to turn down if you like alot of the features and quality offered in this setup. Kenwood now offers this software in a double din setup and I may upgrade later to a double din, I still think a double din raises the eyebrows of prying eyes, and If you have evr had your car broke into you will not want it to happen again.

The bass out of those alpines rattles everything, I have the gain backed down to almost nothing, along with the subwoofer outputs turnded down to -11 out of a range of -15 to +15. turned up all the way it will make the face of the deck look blury to your eyes when you sit in the front seat.

I love it. I always have liked to have that pocket under the deck. I have always had that since I upgraded decks. It is quite convenient I think. I looks great. Good job

Re: stereo finally done

noisy, not trying to pick a fight, but unless you want a pos dvd double din from dual, jensen or similar, you've got to go up the near $1k range to find something 'decent.'

Re: stereo finally done

Oh please tell me where I can get that Metra kit!
Metra's site stops at 06's. I assume its the kit for the 4 runner, but would just like to be sure.
I'm tired of looking at the hole in my dash!

FJCruiserAudio.com is a supporting vendor and has the kits available along with the wire harnesses. Hope this helps!!

No offense taken at all. I just use China-made Oris or no-brand head units. I have one in every vehicle (inc 3 right now), including 6-disk DVD players and they never let me down at all + they play everything. If they fail after three years or so, no biggee, I just toss 'em in the dumpster when that day comes. I don't like the copyright/pirate BS they put in name brand decks. Having a 6-disk DVD player means nearly unlimited MP3s + movies + VCD+ show jpegs - it'll even play downloaded M4s/google vids, etc. I couldn't imagine 'just audio' without video anymore.

My Eclipse AVN drove me nuts because it was so frickin' picky. MP3s had to be within a certain bitrate, it could tell if a DVD was copied, etc - yuk.

Re: stereo finally done

the metra part number is 99-8219, and any local stereo shop that sells that brand should be able to get it. along with some of the sponsored vendors on this site.

Everybody else : thanks for the approval, I am pleased with the finished product myself.
