Indash DVD Player Troubles...

So, I ordered an indash DVD player from Best Buy. I tried to get it installed, but they told me that I'll need a new dash kit because I have an "oversize stereo". They claimed they ordered a new one for me, but neglected to tell me that after they "ordered" it, the manufacture told them they won't sell the FJ dash kit I need to Best Buy, but they will sell them the other dash kit for the FJ. So after a month of dealing with them and their 17 and 18 year old "Installation Experts", I decided to go at it alone. My question to you guys, and possible gals, is what do I need to put this thing in? Would the dealer install it without making me bend over to pay for it?

What I got is similar to this: Pioneer - 50W X 4 iPod™/Satellite Radio-Ready DVD Deck w/6.5" Touch Screen - AVH-P5700DVD

They don't have the exact one I got in stock anymore.

Any help y'all could give me would be appreciated.

Re: Indash DVD Player Troubles...

You will need a single din dash kit use the search function for the kit number and a toyota wiring harness. That is all you need to install. Might want to search around o nthe internet to be able to use all functions while driving just grounding the parking brake wire will not work for this unit. Wiring is basically simple Match the colors of wires, make sure you have a crimper and caps. Crimper cna be gotten from harware store electrical section.

Re: Indash DVD Player Troubles...

Thank for the help! I don't really want to watch movies while I'm driving, though. I heard about a guy who was watching a DVD while driving and wrecked and killed 2 or 3 people. If I remember correctly (which I probably don't) he got life in jail.

Btw, your aviator is awsome. Ron Burgondy is my hero.

Re: Indash DVD Player Troubles...

good lord man. Maybe i read the ad wrong but if your gonna spend that much for a dvd player, just take it to a Prof. audio place and get it done. If your confident in your abilities then i guess you can do it yourself. Just seems to me that after dropping almost a grand on a gadget like that, the instilation cash should not be of concern. You want to get that kind of investment working properly and looking like oem.

Re: Indash DVD Player Troubles...

I only spent $350 on mine (gotta love those day after Thankgiving sales). The reason I put that one up is because they don't sell the DVD player I bought and I wanted to give y'all an idea of the size of the unit. I would never spend 1k on a DVD player....
