I’m still planning my FJ purchase (planned for this summer, maybe I'll get an '08
) and need a couple measurements to plan my mods. Some of these include installing ham radio gear. So, can someone tell me the following?
(*) What is the size of the radio faceplate? I want to see if I can install a ham radio along with a AM/FM/CD player.
(*) What is the size of the shelf areas in the back on the sides? I need to know the depth, length and height up to the windows for installing gear.
(*) What is the depth of the pillar areas behind the rear seat and back pillar? I'm thinking of mounting some equipment there.
(*) What is the width and depth of the back cargo area with the rear seat up? I'm thinking of building a shallow cargo box and also need to know how much other gear I can quickly put in the back. I'm a ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services) member and when alerted I have to move quickly.
(*) What is the height of the top of a Bandi mount? Don’t forget to say how much lift you’ve installed. Want to see if I can use this with my current antenna and still get in the garage.
