AVIC-D3 + iPod troubles

I just finished installing my AVIC-D3 (from the group buy!!!). I have an iPod video as well. I hooked it up, and went to watch video. works great. I get a banner across the screen saying that I must use the iPod for full controls or something to that effect. I chose the video I wanted on the iPod, and it worked.

Now, I want to switch back to listen to music on my iPod. I'm still getting the same banner. the only way I am able to control the iPod is manually. I'd really like to be able to use the pioneer interface for this. Anyone have any idea how I might be able to get this done?

Thanks!
Steve

Re: AVIC-D3 + iPod troubles

are you serious? i bought on that group buy too, and i was looking forward to shoving the ipod into the glovebox and forgetting about it. if i wanted to control the ipod, i would have ditched the new HU and used the AUX jack...

Re: AVIC-D3 + iPod troubles

Video control MUST be done from the Ipod, Audio should work just fine from head unit for the Ipod.

Haullin, are you saying that when you switch back from video to audio it will not allow for control from the head unit? Or are you getting no audio control from the head unit?

Re: AVIC-D3 + iPod troubles

when I switch back from audio to video, it will not allow me to control it from the Head Unit. It advises me that I must control it from the iPod directly still (just like when you play video from the iPod). the only thing that I didn't try was to seek to the end of the video, and then try playing audio. I might try that now.

ok, I figured it out. when switching back from video, you will get the following screen.

You then have to hit touch the screen again, and you will get this up on the screen:

Then you hit the music button, and you get the iPod controls back. I could not find this in the manual anywhere.
