Re: speaker clipping

First of all Speakers don't "clip". Speaker might be at full excursion. That means you have pushed it as far as it was designed to move. Amp's are what "clip". Clipping is a square wave as seen on an osilloscope. Also knowen as distortion. Your amps output has more distortion than its input. I know this because I have been in Audio since 1989. Try turning down the bass or running a bigger cap. on your mids to cross them up higher as to roll off any unwanted bass. If you can not fix this or don't know how, here is a simple fix... Turn the volume control to the left a little. This will keep the amp from clipping. Good Luck!

Re: speaker clipping

The amp is clipping because of the signal from the deck. Where is your gain set on the amp? What about the x-over freq?

Re: speaker clipping

I turned down the gain to .05v which helped a little.I am currently not running a cap .The crossover freqencies are at factory kenwood settings.

Re: speaker clipping

You have a built in x-over in the amp .... use it. Set it on HP for 100 HZ, I believe that amp comes with a 12db slope. Should help the clipping out.

Re: speaker clipping

I would mess with the crossover some what. Cross them mids at 100-200HZ up. The smaller the mids the higher up on the crossover I would go even to 400HZ if need be. Just know that bass+ adjustments in the stereo will distort your system as will having the gain up to high. Remember its better to have a clean sounding system than a loud system. I know 99% of people here will disagree i bet. If you want your system to thump try turning the gain on the amp to the mid/highs down and bass amp up and keep bass adjustments in the head unit flat. It should not matter on the head unit if it is loud at 10 or 50. Once it distortes it distorets. From their the only thing you can do is turn the volume down.

Re: speaker clipping

O.K I figured it out .We put a dvd in earlier and changed the sound to theatre and it screwed everything up.I set it back to off and its back to normal and sounds great. Thanks rip and ace.I just back tracked to what happened before the clipping and realized I changed the dvd sound settings.Strange how much effect that has.
