Re: Standard garmin GPS
I have installed an external antenna for my Toyota / Garmin Quest 2, and it has made a major improvement in the operation of the unit.
Prior to adding the external antenna, I was experiencing frequent "Lost Satellite Reception" messages, and since adding the extenal antenna, I haven't lost reception once.
I think that the major reason is that when it is installed in the dashboard dock, the Quest's internal antenna has a very limited "view" of the sky due to the angle of the windshield. A suction cup mount that places the GPS and it's antenna closer to the windshield would likely have fewer dropouts than the Quest located in the dock.
