Best Head Unit For Sound Quality That Has Nav / Dvd

What's the best headunit out there with the best preamp sound quality that has NAV/DVD capabilities? I just did my install. MB Quart RCE210, MB Quart RCE164 and MB Quart RCE 213 for speakers, Polk C400.4 amp in 4 way mode, with JL audio Clean Sweep. Sound is bananas... I have a his from the crap deck i think having a low Signal to Noise rating on CD player. So I want to replace and possibly add a sub depending on the price.

Thanks for the feed back in advance.

Re: Best Head Unit For Sound Quality That Has Nav / Dvd

Most Nav/DVD headunits are not the greatest from an audio standpoint.
What we typically do if you are looking for a high end audio set up is to indeed use a product such as the Rockford Fosgate 360 or Cleansweep, the 360 is much more powerful btw.
Realize that in your set-up the clean sweep will make up and fix most of the issues with the head unit, it will increase the low level output to about 5v, and also correct most of the electronic issues with the head unit.
Pretty much any unit you get will give you pretty good performance. If you are absolutely focused on sound quality your best bet is a high end radio rather than a nav/dvd unit. Higher end Kenwood or Pioneer Units would be a good choice.

Hmmmm So external NAV...? I have a clean sweep now, what about Nakamichi as a head unit? I was thinking MB-X or CD500. Also i saw the latestest 8 inch stealth sub, can you do that with out carpet and for an MB Quart instead of JL?

If you want a high end HU look at this one ...

Clarion

But if you do get a high end HU, don't use the cleansweep.

If you want a DVD w/out NAV, Pioneer sells a great unit. ( Pioneer P6800DVD ) It has a high power pre-out, and performs very good. Also, don't use the cleansweep with this unit also.

Only use the cleansweep with a HU that has a poor pre-out section ( anything less then 4V out).

That Clarion deck is nuts... out of my price range though. For that money I'd go with a McIntosh....

I have that Clarion in my Audi TT and it rocks. No gimmicks, just performance. It’s arguably the finest SQ HU around.

You asked about a HU with NAV. I would recommend the Eclipse AVN series. Great deals are out there on the 2005 models (anv5435), and also the 2006 models (avn6600).

You are looking at some money, but well worth every penny! I'm pretty sure that Nak is not making Auto HU's anymore, and a McIntosh for the car? I would stay away from anything Pioneer unless you are shopping purely on price alone.

my .02 = I use the avn5435 and am impressed with the capabilities and sound qualities.

What's good about the Eclipse is they have a nice pre-out section. I believe they have a 5V out .... Anything above 4V's is good for SQ.

I also have an Eclipse 5435. I am very impressed with the SQ , and overall performance. Deals can definitely be had, check Ebay. Hook this unit up to good amps, and speakers, and believe me, you will have no complaints whatsoever. My system rocks.
