I really like the idea of the Bandi Mount. My problem, is which antenna to use with it? My dad used to have this really cool 10 foot fiberglass antenna that he would pull down and attach to the front bumper to keep it from rubbing the roofs when he wasn't wheeling. Any recommendations for a really nice antenna??
there's so many antennas u can choose from nowadays, check out walcott's website, seems they have every antenna made for cb's and amateur radios. they even have mounts for laptops. not a bad selection, i just got done checking it out myself. i recommend the k40 antennas, since theyre so flexible, might save u money and time. just incase the others break, not gonna mention which brand. i hope it'll help u on ur search for an antenna. have fun

The big problem with K-40 antennas on the trail is that they are too flexible and they have a tendency to whip around. This can be damaging to your rig and dangerous to people around you. This is why Firesticks on a spring mount tends to the standard off road.

i guess most antennas will whip somehow, maybe the old tennis ball slid on there might still be the best way to go, or figure a way to keep the antenna from whipping around too much. lets see who wll come up with a good idea on this one. seems like we do have some great minds in this site. and btw, thanks for pointing that out to me

Re: Bandi Mount

Yea get the 2 foot fire stick like mine, dont whip arround at all. And the same range of distance. (plus it dont wack the sh*t out of the garage door) Right even with the roof rack using bandi mount.

You can't really fix the K-40 it's just the inherent of a wire whip antenna. That's why the firestick is the popular choice since fiberglass won't whip around.
