Backup Camera on a Bandi Mount?

I'm considering mounting my new backup camera (Pioneer ND-BC2) on a Bandi Mount. Anybody else have their camera up this high? I'm going to be switching out the rear bumper in the future so I don't want to keep having to install the camera if I mount it to the bumper. Also, if I put an antenna on the Bandi will it shake the camera too much? Thanks

Sounds like a great idea. Tuning your antenna might be a bit more interesting as there might be some interference with the two devices expecially when you Tx.

Re: Backup Camera on a Bandi Mount?

I would think that is kind of high.
I have mine above the hitch, and I get a full view of what is behind me.

The backup camera, mounted above the recovery shackle.
I had to go back to the shop on Monday, the two way tape did not hold it well, so I had them run two sheet metal screws into the plastic there.
It would have came off the first time I hand wash the rig, so I am glad I caught this early.

I bet that makes it easier to hitch up

Re: Backup Camera on a Bandi Mount?

It should.
Here is a 5.5 MB vid, and in part of it I shot the camera in action.
Very clear.

Re: Backup Camera on a Bandi Mount?

We have had a lot of success with the bracket we build for the b-up cam.
The FJ is very challenging in terms of good cam placement because of the spare tire and license plate location.

TY Ginzero for the pic

There is a thread with several more pics.

Re: Backup Camera on a Bandi Mount?

I saw this and really liked the look. But I'm planning on replacing the rear bumper with an aftermarket model. Maybe something like a Warn or All-Pro.

JT, will your piece work with a Pioneer ND-BC2 camera? How much are you selling this piece for? Are you able to mount the camera without using double sided tape (which really does not seem like a great solution to me)?

My D3 and camera are showing up on Friday, then I'll be able to think about where to mount it.

Re: Backup Camera on a Bandi Mount?

We have shipped a number of bumpers for the new cam already. Double stick tape (industrial seems to work just fine).
Toyota has raised the price of the unmodified piece to $90, so we have raised the price of the modified piece to $199, and about 2 weeks to mod paint and ship.
