The SWI-JACK does NOT require Infrared.. That's the one I've got.

Apparently not. I think I have to use the PAC SWI-JACK but I think that requires a Inf.Red usage so I'll keep looking.
only features I find are:
* 6.95 inch Wide color LCD
* 3 styles of Wallpaper Customize
* 1 USB Port
* iPod Video Direct
* iPod Video Interface with the KCA-iP300V
* Maximum Output Power : 50W x 4
* 3 Preouts with 2.0V Pre-out Level
* 1 set AV Inputs / 1 set AV Output
* Video Input for Rear View Camera
* External Media Control
* BT Ready
* Multi-task Browser

Cool! thanks. Mind if I ask what exactly to order? Do I need any harness or adapter of any kind? TIA
The only harness you need is the one that connects the DNX to the stock speakers and stuff. The SWI-Jack just plugs in. But you'll need to do a little bit of programming. It's pretty easy though.

OK So the "third" connector from the FJC, that I was told to leave unused when I did the 7100 install, goes into one end of the SWI Jack and the other end of the Jack goes into the 7100?
Don't mean to be a nerd but I'm having trouble picturing this given the following pic:
I am doing this installation today with the SWI-JACK module. The third connector is where the SWI-JACK module interfaces with the steering wheel controls. If you have the "Full factory service manual" look for the "E43" connector. The SWI-JACK module uses pins 6,7 & 8 and does require a 150 ohm resister that is supplied with the kit.
To save a lot of confusion with the directions PAC-Audio has a search engine to give you specific directions for specific vehicles. The FJ directions can be found here: FJ Cruiserinformation
I'll post up all my little tricks in my build thread probably tomorrow.

I ended up bending the resistors leads and plugging directly into the connector. Not pro but seems to work. Still need to go back in and reprogram. I can't seem to match ALL the steering wheel buttons to the operations available on the 7100. Part of the problem is how Kenwood defines "track" as opposed to Toyota. And those instructions show #3 as "mute" and the 7100 doesn't HAVE a mute (unless they mean attenuate) but there's no button on the SWC for that anyway.
Not a huge problem, just a little annoyance.

I seem to have lost my programming twice now. Maybe I have a bad unit. I'll call PAC Monday and see what they think.
