My FJ Stereo Install.....

This is a very basic system and believe it or not this sytem gets lound and sounds great! I have spent over 100 hours with the install and these are only a few pics -

Head Unit: Pioneer 3900 (good basic unit)

Front Speakers: Polk Audio MMC6500 (Awesome speakers) tweets are mounted in door panel - no pic

Amp under Drivers Seat: Alpine MRP-F450 (4-channel amp Bridged and only running Polks)

Amp under Passenger Seat: Kicker 350.2 2-channel AMP (Bridged 350w RMS @ 4 ohms) (sorry no pic)

Subwoofer: 1 Alpine Type R 10" 2 Ohm Voice Coil (I wired this in series to give me 4 ohms to match the Kicker Amp's Impedence. (this SUB ROCKS! it's weight is about 16 pounds)

Sub enclosure: Q-Logic QLH-.6510SS (sealed enclosure with tight bass but also BOOMS with rap) added more polyfill..... mounted behind rear seat facing rear window (pics to come) mounted to the back of the smaller back seat)

Rear speakers running off head unit (Boston 3.5's) no pic (these are for fill)

Front dash speakers are stock running of front channel of head unit

Headliner speakers are also running off head unit (mainly fill)

2 Streetwires 4 Gauge wires coming right from battery each w/60 amp inline fuses. (overkill)

Dynamat Xtreme on both doors (2 layers - 1 inside door panel - 1 outside)
Rear hatch area - but I decided to put it on the inside of the plastic instead of putting it on the metal on the rear door - i think it works..... also on the floor of the cargo area - no pic

*I will have more pics later (install is done now just wanted to post something)

Re: My FJ Stereo Install.....

Hopefully will get some more pics soon!

This BLOWS AWAY the factory system by 5X at least. (I am glad I took out the stock system) The front soundstage is AWESOME!
The BASS is incredible! for this size woofer 10" and a small box .65 CF
it throws BASS big time! Not Boomy either. I hate BOOMY! although I do listen to hip-hop mainly.....

Re: My FJ Stereo Install.....

I ran the power wiring on the L side of the FJ under the rubber/plastic floor.....
And the RCA's and remote wire on the right side of the FJ under the door sill plate thing.... bypassed everything stock except for the front dash speakers and headliner speakers.

where did you bypass them at? in other words, where did you find the factory amp at? i am assuming the car has a factory amp, because the harness that i got has rcas to plug into the aftermarket deck. usually a sign. was the amp in the rear passenger side?

Re: My FJ Stereo Install.....

I had the stock 6 speaker system - as far as I am aware the amp is in the stock factory head unit, at least on the 6 speaker stock setup - as far as the Fjammer, I am not sure.... I think the amp on the Fjammer is in the head unit aqnd then their would be another amp in the Fjammer sub....?

Re: My FJ Stereo Install.....

It looks like the mounting brackets for the amp elevates it a 1/2 inch or so... is this correct? I've seen a lot of people mount there amps flush to the floor, seems like an accident waiting to happen (spilling a drink or something) to mount them flush.

Systems looks great. Any photos of the sub?

Re: My FJ Stereo Install.....

Your fuse at the battery sould never be a higher rating than all the fuses combined at your amps. I.e. Your amps are rated at 25 amps each, you should have a main fuse rated at 50 amps. if you are using 60 amp fuses you are gluttin for trouble. In fact i might even run a 45 amp fuse to start with and see how that does. It is better to have to much protection than not enough. Having a lower amp rating fuse will do just that give you extra protection. If it blowes a few times then go up a few more amps but never exceed the max of your amplifiers combined. Chances are they will never need that kind of current to them and being a little under will do just fine. But if your friends make fun of you for using a small fuse then by all means go big. JK! Good Luck.
