NAV install advice?!?!?

So I went into a local car audio place to have my DNX-7100 installed and I got a bunch of bad news. The guy tells me that if I install this system, I'm going to lose my SubWoofer because they have to bypass the amp, and then the sub is no longer powered? Why haven't I heard anyone else talking about this? Also, the guy recommended putting in a component set of speakers. 6.5" speakers in the door, and tweeters in the dash. The set is going to cost me $270, and then a Kickr 4 channel amp for $200. Can anyone give me some advice regarding this stuff? It looks like for the amp, the speakers, and the install of my stuff and the new stuff, it's going to be $1000. Also, he said that there's no way I can have a warranty on my new DNX-7100 because Wicked CAS sold it to me for less than the normal price. He said that the only way you can get the warranty is by buying it for the price set by Kenwood. ($1600) Anyone have thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Re: NAV install advice?!?!?

If you purchased the unit from a authorized Kenwood distributor than the warranty is good. They are definitely trying to up sell you. However it is true that components and a aftermarket amp will sound better but if you really wanted to you could do without. They are trying to intimidate you. Any good stereo shop will try to accomodate your wishes unless your demands are just so unrealistic that it is impossible to do.

I'm not sure he was really trying to upsell me, just trying to make me feel bad that I didn't buy it from him. But what about the prices? Does that sound reasonable for what I'm getting done?

It is not uncommon for shops to make you feel bad about not buying from them, just think that you did nothing wrong and it will pass. What are you trying to get done and what is the price they are quoting you?

As it says in the first post, I'm trying to get a DNX-7100 installed with bluetooth and steering wheel adapter controls. I'm going to replace the door speakers and the dash speakers, and add an amp. Also, I don't want to lose the sound from my Sub Woofer, and the guy says that by hooking this system up, my sub will no longer work. The speakers are $270, and the 4 channel amp is $200.
