a good install of some decent components up front with some power behind them i think will really balance out you system. do you have an aftermarket head unit? and what amp is on those woofers?
as of now I'm still running the FJammer..I know..problem #1 haha..I've got a portable Garmin Nuvi 350...so how much could I get a headunit for without GPS?
It's a 800 watt 2 channel amp...the place I got installed at gave me a good deal on it..and they let me trade in my old setup for it..so I just took it and ran.

what amp is it? you can get a good headunit for about 250-500 bucks. as far as amps go it really depends on how good of an amp do you want and how much power do you want. what kind of a budget would you have to work with?

It's an "American Pro" 800 watt max..2 channel..looks like part VS1405..definitely not high end but my subs will bang
so if I got some components and ran a 4 channel amp to them..I could equal everything out? budget..well..I'm not looking too high...I've already dropped a good amount in the box/subs/install and everything.

what is not too high for stereo equipment for you?
Re: How to install a great sound system in your FJ
i would say for a great entry level setup
probably 180-200 for a deck (hard to beat an alpine 9883 for the $$)
amp, zapco i-force i-250 can be had for about 150 (50x2 rms at 4 ohms) perfect for just the front
speakers, more of a personal choice. probably 150-200 for decent components.
materials, 50-75 bucks
probably 675 is a reasonable number if you install everything yourself. make your own adapters.
you wont really be able to get these prices from dealers, but search the internet and you can find them easily.

Briman,
LDRHawke here.....What would you recommend as a decent head unit to replace the FJJammer, that has time delay to tune a system? I've already posted and we discussed my non-component speaker system. I would like to get a 50 watt output head unit. Also, how do your time delay tune a system?

its hard to go wrong with the higher end alpines. the mid to high end eclipses also have awesome features. i would recommend getting an outboard amp though. deck power sucks no matter how much its rated for. for time delay, i match my rear speakers to the bass (because the low end is usally in the rear and the rear speakers are usually in front of them). then once they are in sync, tun the fronts to match the rears which are already delayed to match the bass. you delay whats closest to you.
