Re: Non-Pioneer Camera Hookup on D3

I have had mine on now for two weeks on the bumper (the Pioneer one) and have not cleaned the lens, and it still looks good.

Even with all the rain here in WA. state.

I have to agree, it is nice having the unit back there now to see.

this is the one that i used. I got it at Circuit City for 129.99. Its infared and has a microphone so you can listen outside the vehicle. For what I have no idea. Here are some pics.
Too cool. How do you toggle between the normal view and infrared? Do you have a picture of what the infrared view looks like?

I believe toggling between IR and Normal views occur automatically. IR is active at low light levels (i.e., night).

This is correct. I'll try and post a picture of it at night.

Re: Non-Pioneer Camera Hookup on D3

Why not mount it up on the rack? This would also give you a better angle for hooking up to a trailer and a wider field of vision. Just a thought since I don't have one...

Re: Non-Pioneer Camera Hookup on D3

I have one that is built into the license plate frame. Since it is on the right hand side it has a skewed perspective, but it is still very usable. It does not have IR, but it has very good lowlight ability. And when you put your truck in reverse the reverse lights illuminate the area well enough for a simple 1/3" CCD camera.

It does okay in foul weather. I find that when it has been parked in rain for a while that it will require a quick wipe. So I usually just do that when getting in the truck in those situations.
