Pop up GPS factory one

I saw the GPS systems for cheaper on Ebay like 745 versus 900 something at the dealer?

Are these a good deal? Would the dealer have to install that custom pop up compartment ?

Re: Pop up GPS factory one

I'm not sure what you saw on ebay (just the Quest 2 or the whole toyota install unit with Quest 2).

You can get the whole thing (mounting box and GPS) from the dealer/forum venders for just under $900.

One forum vender (I think trdsource) will let you buy just the mounting box for $400.

The Quest 2 (non-Toyota version) can be found for $500-$700 online.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Toyota Quest 2 unit is "special." Not only does it have Toyota dealerships pre-loaded, it comes w/ crippled firmware that eliminates the ability to turn off "safe mode." A post on this came up a few days ago and may be updated by now.

Re: Pop up GPS factory one

I bought mine on eBay (from a Toyota dealer), it was the "whole kit", p/n PT917-35070, which includes the "docking module", the wiring harness, and the GPS itself. I paid $739 including shipping.

Do be aware that the GPS unit has some additional limitations; in addition to not being able to disable Safe Mode, it will not accept any firmware updates that Garmin has available for the Quest2, including the latest DST fix.

This new TomTom One might be a better option for you, I've been using it for a month now with outstanding results, positioned as you see here it's easy to hard wire directly to an unused fuse slot. The visor is home made. $299.00 everywhere
