CB antenna used for better AM radio reception?

I enjoy AM talk radio, but hate the poor-to-good-to-ok reception.

If I were to reroute the antenna from the FJ radio to a bandi mounted 4' firestick would this help my reception. I don't know any of the "trons" involved with the FJ antenna to cb antenna interface, but I was hoping some one could at least help me in getting better AM reception, I do hear AM radio reception is dependent on many factors, like weather and obviously terrain, thus the bigger is better approach...

ALSO I went into a local Flying J truck stop and they had by far the cheapest CB's and component pricing available, you could also actually "see" all the items you may need for a CB install, (no eBay trickery) and no retarded Radio Shack pricing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

THe short answer is NO. a CB radio transmits and receives radio frequencies on completely different wavelengths than an AM radio, so the CB antenna would be of no help whatsoever. Antenna length is determined by cutting it to a proportion of the wavelength of the averaged frequency it will be used on, so they are frequency -specific. That's why you'll see multiple sized antennas on official vehicles or amatuer radio operators who use multiple radios of different types. AM reception in the FJC is poor mostly because the radio's electronics are focused on FM and CD performance, and not as much attention put on the more rarely used AM radio band. Also, AM radio is more dependant on terrain, weather, buildings, and transient electrical fields found all around.
