Need Help - Changed Speakers, no sound!

This evening I changed the rear speakers in my FJ.
I have the FJammer with 8 speakers. These are the first speakers I ave changed everything else is stock.

After changing the driver's side I turned on the radio. everything was fine. I turned off the vehicle.

I changed the passenger's side. NO sound. None at all. Not out of any speaker.

The radio itself seems to be working. it lights up and shows it is reading the Cd, I tried changing to FM...no avail.

Is there a separate fuse for a power amp.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Wayne

Re: Need Help - Changed Speakers, no sound!

Update:

There are 2 fuses for the Radio. Neither are blown.
Still no sound from Radio.

Replaced the original speakers. No sound.

The new speakers are Rockford 4" - 4 ohm.

I do not know how this happened, but I apparently damaged the FJammer in changing the speakers. I realize there is a subtle difference in the ohm load the head unit would now see. Unfortunately I never had both rear speakers work, so I doubt that this overloaded the FJammer.

Still it does not work.

I realize I could probably take this to the dealer, but I feel that would be dishonest. I did this damage....somehow.

I guess I will have to spend some MORE money on new head unit/amp,etc.

unplug the new back speakers and see if your get sound. If so, you know it's the new speakers causing the issue ....don't use them.

Agree with RipsFJ, but I also ran into this problem.

I replaced mine with some Polk 4" db400 and used 1/4" nylon washers to give some space from the body panels and the magnet. I'm no electrician, but I think you might have a grounding issue?

Re: Need Help - Changed Speakers, no sound!

I don't have the FJammer, just the regular CD/Tuner. I noticed when installing my aftermarket rear speakers that if 1 of them grounded, it would kill sound in all 8 speakers. Just to be safe, I wrapped the speaker connectors with e-tape. Sound returned when the connectors weren't touching the metal back there.

Re: Need Help - Changed Speakers, no sound!

I appreciate the responses.

Unfortunately, returning it to stock did not fix the issue. I also tried with no speakers attached, still, no luck.

I ensured that the speakers were spaced off of the rear and that no wires were contacting the chassis. Still, no sound.

I guess it's ok. It drove me to get ALOT of new gear. I guess the next time I post, it will be to show how I installed all the new equipment.

Thanks again,
Wayne
