Well...I already ordered but if I remember FJAudio's one is like 600-700$? As long as the Kickers fit, and it looks decent, and it mounts fine...I'll be happy, the only question is where the heck do I mount the big amp? lol
Ahhah! I see, alright, I won't be doing the installation but that's what I'll tell the people at Cartunes to do, I am going to go ahead and mount the subwoofers inside the box, do I just screw them in and that's it, or what?

Why don't you have the installer do that too? You can't put the subs in the box until the box is mounted since you need to run the bolts from inside the box. You can't mount the box until you have the wiring set up. So.... if you might as well wait. As to your actual question -- yes, as far as I know you just screw them in. Make sure you use all the screws and equally torque them. You might need to consider getting some baffling material -- box doesn't come with any -- this is kind of a personal prefernce thing. Good luck!
Just a note - a 12 inch circle has an approximate area (flat) of 113.04 square inches - two 10 inch circles have an area of approximately 157 square inches. Since a speaker is a cone, the 2 10 inch subs will actually provide a little more area than this difference shows. I really do not know why some of you are stuck on using the single 12-inch sub as you are not going to be able to move as much air as the two 10-inch sub option.
Honestly folks - the JL w-1s available as the base speaker from WickedCAS - wired to a 2 Ohm load with a good 400 watt amp will satisfy 90%+ of you. I have been building systems for 25+ years and unless you want to set-off car alarms for fun (which I have done in previous systems) you should be happy with two 10s and a decent amp.

I don't claim to have your expertise, but can't a 12" generate longer wavelengths than one or two 10" -- unless they are in some kind of fancy phase-matched array? Also, a single 12 costs less than dual 10's. I do like the idea of wiring for a 2 ohm load as you suggested.
I actually am moving up from a single 10 in my 4Runner (JL box) and dual 8's in my Tundra and thought I wanted to try a 12" based on how it sounds in my friend's truck. If I don't like it I'll switch it out later for dual 10's.
A 12" puts out deeper base, that's about it. You want a 12" if you listen to slow beat music (rap, deep beat music etc) a 10" will beat faster, which is better for Rock, Techno, etc.
10" subs from what I've been researching, generally sound better\clearer than 12"
And Ruebarb, my problem isn't the 10" Kicker, is the 750w (rated a 947w's) amp that I am hooking up to power Kickers new 10" CVRS....I'm just hoping the FJ Cruiser has enough power, and that the lights won't dim.

I've got a dual battery setup and a 5 farad capacitor with my 3 amps -- so hopefully minimal dimming unless there's lots of trail lights on, too.
P.S. I know the 1 cap per amp rule of thumb, but there's only so much room and I have to compromise somewhere.
