Firewall access??

Anybody have pictures of the driver's side firewall where there's access to the passenger compartment for feeding wiring through?

I spent an hour just trying to feed a satellite radio antennna wire through that exisiting 5" grommet near the steering column.

Any place else where going to and from the engine compartment is easily accessible from the passenger compartment for future projects (i.e., CB, light switches, etc.)??

Re: Firewall access??

I don't have a picture but if you look to the left of where the main wiring comes out of the firewall, you will see another rubber grommet the size of a nickel at about the same level, pop this out and all your left with is insulation to poke through. Hope this helps.

Re: Firewall access??

about half way down this post by sbechtold, there are a two photos of the grommets (one is ~1" diameter and the other ~2.5" diameter). There are two similar grommets on the passenger side as well.

Re: Firewall access??

just pop out the grommet, stick a piece of small wire through it. attach what ever wire you are pulling through. pull what lenght you need inside get it fed in under dash etc, then dress the slack back to the outside where the grommet is then work the grommet back into the firewall dress the rest of way with small tieraps. boom your set. this small wire you might also want to tape up befre pushing into the inside just incase you run into some other wire.. hope this helps! pm if you need more help. Be glad to maybe assist you. Peace!you may also have to pull up the floor a little

Re: Firewall access??

i can take a pic tomarrow of mine. i used uni bit and drilled a hole and pulled 0 gauge through it, with a grommet of course. it is slightly above the factory grommet on the drivers side. on the passenger side, there are too many things on the cabin side of the firewall, it is generally safer to drill on the drivers side. dont be afraid to drill it, especially if you are going to pull lots of wire through in the long run. for the sat radio, go through the firewall and up the a-pillar.

Thanks, guys. I didn't even see that other 1" grommet. That's going to make life a lot easier for future installs.

Sure enough, there it is. That will make many more future projects a breeze.
