Alternate Horn Solution Concept

Ok this is more of a what if/how to question for the brain trust. I've already added a 2nd horn, but probably didn't buy the right one because I'm still not satisfied. Anyhow, it has already been documented that if you press the "panic" button on your key fob, you get a horn blast that is quite louder than the one you get during everyday blasts from your steering wheel. This tone is perfect.

Here's the question: Is there a way to rewire or flip flop the connections that designate the "panic button" horn from the "steering wheel horn?" I imagine the panic button is seldom used and that tone is far more appropriate than the lame one we get for "daily" use.

Re: Alternate Horn Solution Concept

I added a Tundra high pitch to my FJ for the time being til I can find a nice Boomer Sooner horn. I was under the impression that the panic was louder because of the amount of juice going to it with the engine off. I would think investing in louder horns (air horns) would be better than trying to alter Toyota's most superior wiring harness.

I fall more in love with my FJ everyday!!!

Re: Alternate Horn Solution Concept

I installed the Tundra low pitch horn as my second horn and it sounds good.

You can see in the left part, and in the OEM spot.... I installed PIAA horns, they make a big difference and worth the $45 I paid for them!!!

Hello chewey46 it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

Re: Alternate Horn Solution Concept

I installed two Hella Horns behind the grill. I extended the wire from the secondary horn location to the front so I didn't have to splice one wire between the two horns.
I painted them black so you can't see the red horns behind the grill.

It sounds like it was supposed to without being too obnoxious.

Re: Alternate Horn Solution Concept

Or go with the Rolo Bad Boy and get most anyone's attention. A very nice compact air horn for the money and easy to mount.
