Re: Polk Audio?

I have replaced my OEM speakers with the Polk's and driving them with a Kenwood head unit. They sound good, are efficient at low power and are relatively inexpensive but I think they would sound a lot better if I was running amp power to them.

Re: Polk Audio?

I've never used Polk for the car, but the home speeks are a good bang for the buck. My experiance also tells me that polks are power hungry. Give them more juice and they will sound better.

Re: Polk Audio?

I've used POLKS in my last 3 trucks. I just installed an Alpine Head Unit, Infinity Amp, to power a POLK/MOMO 10" sub, and POLK/MOMO 6.5" components in the doors - to date it's the best system I've ever put together - great clarity and control. I FatMatted the FJ to expect for above the head line - made a huge difference too.

Re: Polk Audio?

I just replaced my 2000 Prelude front woofers w/ Polks and am pretty happy with them considering what I paid for them.

Re: Polk Audio?

the polk momo components are good speakers, but for the money i would go with the boston pros. if you really want the most out of them, you will definitly need an amp on them.

Re: Polk Audio?

Polks a good brand don't get me wrong. But I've always used kicker, mainly for subs/amps and when they came out with their speaker line I had to try it. I must say to this point, I haven't heard a single speaker that put out, more clear, distortion free, heart pouding sound. SUPER crips highs, thumping lows and super clean Mids. I am an audiophile, just not this time around in the FJ. That's what the 'rolla's for.

I believe last time I checked they were 120 for the 6x9s and 70 for the 6 1/2s which is not outrageous but certanly a super bang for the buck.

Yes as mentioned they're good with the headunit's amp but you'll get your money's worth with a simple 50-60 x4 RMS amp @ 4ohms and yes I'd recommend kicker amps, and rockford amps as well.

i am a hardcore sound quality freak, but this time around in the FJ i built a hip hop oriented system with crazy output. but with components, a good install makes all the difference. once you have good amplification, good processing, and a good install, then the speaker choice will make or break a system, but until then, you might as well just get something that is a decent product.
