FJammer-Sirius question

I have port installed Sirius on my TRD with the FJammer 6 CD changer.

At first, sometimes the "AM/SAT" button wouldn't "toggle" between AM & SAT and just stayed on AM (CD, AUX & FM WORKED/WORKS FINE).

NOW, the AM/SAT button does NOTHING! I can only play CD's & FM radio.

It's not a subscription issue (I WORK for Sirius!)...I would guess this radio's designed for XM and has a "converter" which is flakey.

Anyone else have "Sirius" problems with their FJammer??

Re: FJammer-Sirius question

I have the same Sirius unit and have had zero problems...bought my FJ and had the module installed at my dealer a week later in December. You are correct, however, that the head unit was designed to work w/XM. Could be a separate head unit problem, too.

Good luck.

Please share with me why you believe the head unit was designed to work with XM. It seems to me it should readily accept whichever tuner unit you hitch up to it.

BTW, I have port installed Sirius with no problems at all.

Re: FJammer-Sirius question

Joined the revolution two Christmas ago! Had a free Sirius (w/ a year of service) put in by the dealer and have no issues other than the occasional no signal (much more frequently than my Xact in my 4runner). I'd take it to the dealer if I were you. K

That's my understanding. Yes, the head unit works with both XM and Sirius but, if I recall correctly, TMS did a deal with XM first and Sirius availability was later. I don't think the XM and Sirius modules fit in the same way. Don't recall exactly where I heard/read that...might have been from a friend who works at XM (and is still ripped I won't give up my Sirius).

Re: FJammer-Sirius question

The head units were designed to work with XM "brains" and the Sirius module is a "converter" to convert the controls designed to work with XM to work with Sirius.

Problem is the only thing you can control is volume & channel chages plus toggle (using text button) between name of channel, name of artist or name of song title but it will only display 8 characters and doesn't scroll (ie: Allman Brothers Band is "Allman Br".

That being said, the dealer pulled the radio Saturday and wiggled the wires and it started working again. I have noticed the reception is not as good as in my other car due I presume to antenna placement (right at the lip of the top of the windshield, when generally the antenna's like to be surrounded by metal at least 5 " or so all the way around and my coaxial wire to the antenna may be crimped a little somewhere since they have to fish it around the winshield seal and up under the dash.

And by the way, the stock speakers pretty much do suck but are no worse than most mid priced vehicles stock speakers. A reasonable upgrade to just the door speakers would probably improve it a bit without going nuts replacing head units, amps, adding subwoofers & expensive x-overs is overkill unless that's real important to you
