Hands-free cellular???

OK, I've ordered quest 2 from online source, glovebox and wiring harness from toyota, and dice for the 'pod. Now I'd like to hookup a bluetooth hands-free kit. Probably one of the motorola kits. Has anybody installed one of these without using the satellite input? That's reserved for the dice. What I'd like to do is somehow wire it into the factory fjammer. Unless by the grace of the mod-gods there is another method of connecting a hands-free kit, it'll have to be through the quest speaker.

Here's to hoping.

Re: Hands-free cellular???

I am not sure how my setup will work with what you have going on...
I have a treo 700wx and I use a cable from the headphone jack to the aux input under the cig lighter.
This uses the treo mic for phone input and the car stereo speakers for output.
This way I can listen to mp3's with the treo then have a call interupt automatically, talk, and afterwards go back to music without effort on my part....lazy but cool.
enjoy

PS I can also be running Iguidance street nav w/ bluetooth gps while doing the above and the spoken directions go right through the music...kind of funny

Re: Hands-free cellular???

Has anyone installed the bluetooth adapter for the Pioneer Avic Z1 (or similar Pioneer model with bluetooth capability)?

I was quoted 250.00 including install, but was wondering what the sound quality is like.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Re: Hands-free cellular???

Parrot makes a very cool bluetooth setup, they have a harness that plugs into the factory harness on the back of the stero. We use these in our company vehicles.

I have to tout the wonders of the Kenwood DNX7100 with Bluetooth! WickedCas has it right. The thing just rocks! My phone connects automatically as soon as I sit in the car and start it up. All calls come in through the deck, and the microphone is all but invisible. It's a sweet setup!

One of the board sponsors sells a bluetooth setup that integrates w/the oem headunit. On the upper right side of this link, there are instructions posted:

Re: Hands-free cellular???

Being somewhat curious, I downloaded the installation instructions for the Toyota Bluetooth kit (00016-00003-02), and I cannot see any possible way that this unit can mute the OEM radio. The only connections to the vehicle are power (EA4/10), acc power (E49/8), and ground. The unit has it's own speaker and microphone, so I would have to say that the "integration" with the factory head unit is fiction.

Does anybody have this unit installed?

Nice to see you here Russ!

Re: Hands-free cellular???

Thanks for all the comments so far. I looked at the toyota kit and am adverse to cutting on my toyo. Not that it's a terrible thing, I just prefer the origina look of factory equipment. However, I'm not completely opposed to mounting on my new glove box (for quest gps)... just installed it today and am still waiting on the gps to arrive.

I looked at the speaker wiring a little before I installed. I think it might be possible to simply tap into the speaker for use by the hands-free kit.

Need to do a little more research.

Thanks again everybody.
