I'm not sure what you mean by "Mods" to a CB. What can you mod?

My Cobra 29 Nightwatch.
Built in SWR meter, similar to the one USMC just bought, but mine is from '99 or so.

The bigger Cobras, the 25 and 29 series you can change out the amp chip in there and 5x the power.
A normal CB put out around 5 watts maximum when you push the button.
Mine is putting out around 25 watts when I key up.

I do not use it on the highway much unless to ask about slowing down traffic.
I mainly use it for off road, and with the extra power I can punch through the mountains with ease.

Yep what Corey said on the mod's

I almost went with the Nightwatch I saw one that had the WX option.. I really wanted the weather channels but oh well.. Much like you, I figured I would want to amp it up cause of the terrain. But that can get $$$.

Corey did you use the std mount, I think that comes with it.. if not I'm thinking that I will need to buy one.

Re: CB Radio - Cobra 29 LTDSE

It is just the standard bracket mount that came with the CB.
I had it mounted pretty much the same way in my '91 4Runner.

It does not get in the way of passengers in either vehicle.

The mic has since been moved to the left side of the unit, so the mic cord is not in the way.

Yeah, I did not opt for the weather channels on this one.
Everyone who hears me transmit says it is crystal clear and packs a punch.

Re: CB Radio - Cobra 29 LTDSE

I used search but couldn't find more installs.

Tell me more about preferred antenna locations and the mounting bracket. Post some pictures if you have them please.

I've put cb's on most of my motorcycles. I have a 4' Firefly and a 4' Firestick at home that I'm not using ---- too tall? They stressed the mount too much on my bike and I had to put a smaller mast on it.

btw, I'm almost always on 19 when I ride solo; truckers are a wealth of information and entertainment. Channel 1 is the motorcycle channel.
What channel for ORV's?

Yeh, I have the Large Single Side Band Cobra 148 NW ST, I made a bracket for it along the passenger side, check out the link below.

Re: CB Radio - Cobra 29 LTDSE

I have a Connex General Lee CB from Radio Active Radios. It puts out about 60 watts, I mounted the CB in the roof. If you search "Regreb" post titled "Roof Mounted CB Install",it works well with a big radio and is prety easy to do,heck I did it. The Bandi mount is asome if you can get one. If you want to learn more about CB radios check out www.cbradiotalk.com That forum has lots of info. Remember if your going to Ouray monitor chanel 7.
