Where's the best location to place my backup camera?
I like the clean look of it being place by the license plate like most other cars. Except on the FJ, it is to the side. If I place it there, will 1) the tire block the portion of the view and 2) with the wide camera angle, will I still be able to see all that's behind me. (any one installing here, can you give me a picture so I can see the view, that would really help alot to make up my mind).
OR do you recommend placing flush in the bumper in the middle?
Mine is almost the same as SFC's. Only, the camera is angled downward to help judge how close things are coming while backing up. But, the price for this, is that it only sees back about 6 feet. (I'm thinking of taking the motor from a broken side mirror, and running the lines to be able to remotely adjust the view.)
Mine is inside the bumper with the lens flush with the bumper cover, same location as SFC. No interference from the spare tire. The display I mounted on a hindge on the inside of the driver's glove box drawer.
I mounted the BEC106 just to the right of the hitch and in-line with the backup sensors.

SFC Where did you get the rear tow mount bar and tow loop pictured here?

Thanks,

The only thing is, the mounting holes to slide the hitch pin through were drilled on the opposite sides, so the shackle swung to the left or right. It was annoying to look at, so I drilled holes on the opposite sides so it would mount up like a normal hitch shackle.
My backup camera is located inside of the truck, it's over the rear pop out window. You can check the pictures in my photo gallery on this site. It's set up so I can flip the switch to see the rear view while driving and another switch to view the satellite TV.
