CB install

Well, here is a brief chronicle of my CB install.

First of all, these two links are extremely helpful to anyone wanting to do this:
New CB Antena Mount !!!
Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

The radio is Radio Shack, but everything else I got from Walcott as perscribed by the Big Bill FJ Combo (coax, stud, spring, bandi mount, etc)
BIGBILLCOMBO

Alright. I am a terrible fabricator, and don't have tools for such things. So, my design goal in placing the radio was to come up with a scheme where the install looking good does not depend on how well i do it!

OK - the cutting tools I had available to me were a dremel with a sanding/grinding bit and a bread knife!

I made this ridiculously rough and terribly mishapen hole with the bread knife, heated over a fire.

Here it is installed - looks horrible, right?

Now here's the beauty of this: the other part of the console completely covers it up and it looks really clean even though I literally cut the thing with a kitchen utensil.

So, there ya go! I like the radio down there, its not out in the open for somebody to smash the window, easy to reach, the speaker isn't covered, and it doesn't really make that bin useless, just takes up a little room.

Re: CB install

dude it will be great to include you in the AZFJ trail chatter club now !
I felt bad on our night run that you were left out of all the silliness

But man that is 1 mondo CB...holy chrome & steel batman!
I bet that things puts out some sound...and if you go to a cb shop they can usually peak & tune a radio like that for more output (which is tech illegal but every trucker running down the hiway does it)

Nice install and good work
see you in a week
