hi all,
i just bought a FJAMMER off ebay and put it in my car today. I attempt to load up a cd and it jamns upp.. im like darnit! i've been robbed! But wait a second, the newest version of the FJ is 2007 and they all come with 3 year warranties...hmmmmmm maybe a dealer replacement?
before i go down that road, im shaking around my brand used fjammer and all of a sudden the CD loads, whoopeeee, im back in business.. so let me load a few more, crapp, the fjammer goes ka chug ka chug, not able to load another cd, and can't play the on i have in there. So i take the fjammer out pop off the top of the radio without scratching anything and see my cd looking right at me.. everything seems normal, maybe ill pop the fjammer back in and see if i can fix it.
eBay coves up to $175 ($200 minus the first $25). And if you used PayPal, it may cover the rest, too. And you can cover the whole thing by putting a hold on the credit card payment.
Agree, first step is to work it out with the seller. But watch out - you need to look up the reporting period. You probably have only 30 days to file a claim, or they will tell you to forget it. Don't let the seller string you along past the date. Instead, file the claim by the due date to protect your rights, if necessary, even if they say the money has been sent, just before the due date. You can always cancel the claim later, but you can't make one after the due date.
Also, I wouldn't mention that you tinkered with the FJammer. Then they can say you caused the damage, or voided any warranty. Don't know if your dealer would honor the warranty for the non-purchaser, or for a Jammer that is not part of a warranted vehicle you take in.
My experience is with a deadbeat eBay seller who strung me along. I do not have experience with an out of vehicle added on FJammer situation. Hope all works out for you.
thanks for the replies, the seller shipped it fast, got it about 5 days after winning it and i tried it right away. so its been about maybe 7 days total.
yup i pressed the load button.
the seller says he took it out of his FJ after 2 weeks only by a prof.... didn't say "as is".
pain in the butt, but yeah, i may have to go through the ebay return process.
One more thing, i got it for about 150 shipped, the last 5 fjammers sold on ebay went for around that price shipped. (i was watching all 5 auctions).
Since you already took it apart, try prying inside to see if there a wheels or belt or something that jumped off during shipping. I delivered a 5 CD players to my wife's cousin a couple of weeks ago, and she called me to say the CD player kept jamming. I went over and and opened the box, looked inside, and found a small lever stuck in the up position; I pried it gently and it snapped back into place, and the CD player has been fine since. It will only cost you a few minutes, and if this does not work, you may then try your dealer for warranty repair, and if dealer does not work, try seller, and last try ebay (it takes the longest).
Wanna buy mine? If he takes it back I would be happy to sell you my Fjammer for 150$ and it works like a dream, I just need a touch-screen navi. Don't pry it apart because THAT will void warrantys.
