Attachment 1080COMPARE NEW SPEAKERS TO THE STOCK SPEAKERS, THE LOOK OF THE MAGNET TELLS THE TALE.

Attachment 1081RED IS HOT, BLACK IS GROUND, (SAME ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TRUCK). YOU HAVE TO USE A 10mm WRENCH TO GET THE BRACKET OUT, IT IS A PAIN IN THE ARSE, BUT MUCH BETTER THAN TRYING TO DEAL WITH MOULDINGS. DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE PLASTIC MOULDINGS AROUND THE SIDE REAR WINDOWS.

Attachment 1082TRIM THE PLASTIC HORN DOWN WITH A RAZOR KNIFE OR A RAZOR SHARP POCKET KNIFE. THIS WILL GIVE THE CLEARANCE FOR THE SPEAKER WHICH MOUNTS A LITTLE HIGHER THAN THE STOCK SPEAKER.

Attachment 1083INSTALLED SPEAKER, PLEASE NOTE THAT I USED A COUPLE OF 5/16" NUTS TO SPACE THE SPEAKER OUT. THE AFTERMARKET SPEAKERS ARE DEEPER AND NEED TO BE SPACED OUT SO THE MAGNET DOES NOT REST ON METAL. I USED SELF TAPPING TEK SCREWS. BE CAREFUL TO NOT USE A SCREW THAT IS TOO LONG AS NOT TO PENETRATE THE OUTER BODY.

Attachment 1084FINISHED LOOK, NOT TO SHABBY

THE SOUND IS AWESOME, NOW I NEED SOME 6X9'S TO MAKE COMPLETE. ADAM12HICKS SHOWED THE FRONT SPEAKER INSTALL, I ALSO DID THESE TODAY, MUCH EASIER THAN THE REAR.

ATTILLA

Re: Rear Speaker Install Page 2

Looks great! Glad to see you were able to make it work with spacers. I gotta go get me a pair now!

Hey did you drill new holes for the new speakers or use existing? Since I don't have any speakers in the back, I have no brackets or holes... just a harness.

Thanks!
Adam

Re: Rear Speaker Install Page 2

Cool thanks! I called the dealership today and they're looking up the part number for the rear speaker grills and getting them ordered.

Re: Rear Speaker Install Page 2

I just called my dealer today and found the correct part number and cost for the rear speaker covers. The part numbers were correct but need a BO at the end of the number.
  • Speaker Grill LH Driver Side 86279-35020 B0 $ 35.52
  • Speaker Grill RH Passengers Side 86269-35020 B0 $ 35.52

Kind of pricy but it is that ore change the look and I like the stock look.

Re: Rear Speaker Install Page 2

Yeah my dealer never called me back... Wow talk about mark-up. I don't mind spending money on the FJ, but $70+ for two pieces of plastic which probably cost Toyota about $1.75. Talk about your ridiculous markup! Now if they came as a set with the speakers I'd at least forgive them (even though I'd trash the speakers!)

Oh well maybe I can do some hagglin'!

Adam

Thanks for posting!
