starting my system 8" free air subs?

well not new to installs...but it has been some time...used to do the isaca stuff back in the day..

I am planning a very KISS system.

4ch amp with x-over (not sure what yet)
front stage:
CLIF DESIGNS PX352T 3-1/2" W/ SWIVABLE TWEETERS in dash
low end:
8" free air subs in doors (what I can find)

stock head unit (not sure if I want to change it out but may as it plays MP3 cd's not to good)

having a hard time finding free air 8" subs. anyone know of any that are not to pricey?

My last system I did had diamond audio hex 6.5" components in the doors and a pioneer shallow mount 12" over my spare in my WRX wagon. With an Xtant 4ch amp powering it. I just want close to that in sound quality. It was a little much for me though.

I am trying to find some old school phoenix gold or soundstream amps though

Try Morel three way. Its not a sub but it is a woofer. and all of the imaging is up front. It's a "K.I.S.S." type of setup. That's what im getting after i get tired of my CDT's.

Re: starting my system 8" free air subs?

thanks for the quick replies..

a few more questions

Ok possibly considering 6x9 woofers (mb quart or other) instead of the 8" woofers

easier to install and such.

If I did go with the 8" is if mandatory to to drill out the un-drilled holes in the stock speaker grill? Now they holes are the shape of the 6x9 but the 8" would be covered a bit. I would think it would not matter much but not sure.

It would probably be easier to put the 3.5" and then 6x9 woofers instead of the 8"s

just trying to figure out if it is worth the effort
