Amp Question

I have the 8 speaker system without the sub. I have replaced the dash, back & door speakers with aftermarket. My question, can I add 1 amp that would power all these speakers. If so what type should it be. Other question, if I decide to add a sub can this same amp handle this also. Would like to do everything with 1 amp if possible. Will not be changing out F Jammer head unit. Thanks

Re: Amp Question

Before any can recommend an amp, we need to know the exact after market speakers you are using. Your dash speakers should be fine running on your headunit amp, rear and door speakers are the ones you might want to amp up depending on what they are, normally the only ones you will need to amp up (unless you go really high-end) are the doors since they require the most watts.

Re: Amp Question

Do you want to be able to fade? If you want to amp all the speakers and add a sub you might want to look into a five channel amp. I run a four channel amp with the same system you have plus a sub. I also switched out the speakers to all MB Quart speakers and a Polk 8" sub. I power the door speakers off the front channel and the sub is powered by the rear channel bridged. The 3.5 are powered off of the head unit. If I were to do it over again I would run seperates up front (amped) and the 3.5s and a sub in the back amped.

Re: Amp Question

if i were you, i would get a small 2 channel amplifier that is 2 ohm stable and only worry about powering the front speakers. the rears will be fine. what speakers did you go with?

Re: Amp Question

My speakers are Boston Acoustics 3.5 on the dash and rear. I have a set of Boston XS65 x 6 3/4 that I was planning on using in the doors but have not put them in yet. Can change if needed.

Put an 8" sub in and an amp to run the door speakers and sub and let the head unit power the dash and rear speakers and you will be impressed. A definite upgrade to stock without breaking the bank.
