i did a quick search and didnt see anything right off. Is there anything keeping someone from puttng remote start on the fj? My wife has dibs on the garage and its gonna get real cold here pretty soon. any ideas on if the exsisting ignition system has anything that would keep one from working without extensive mods? I was gonna put one on the wifes car but i had to use the valet key to get around the computer so you could start the car without having the key in the ignition, therefor rendering the anti theft ignition cut off computer usless. Am i s.o.l?

Yes it works just fine......
A little more diligence searching will yeild a ton of threads for "remote start installed".
You can get remote start on Manuals as well these days, so that doesn't matter. If you are going to purchase a remote start unit, instead get an ALARM and REMOTE START so you have the whole package. You're more than likely going to be going with a DEI product such as Clifford, or Viper, so just get their units that have security built in, I personally recommend the Viper 5900. Just make sure to find a REPUTABLE installer, if one accidentally messes up remote start or security, it can cause a lot of annoyances.

yes you can, even with units other than the compustar, but shops generally wont even use the compustar unit due to liability and the LAW. trust me, i am very knowledgable on aftermarket security and audio, you know this...

What do you mean shops won't use compustar units due to liability and laws? I know nothing of the compustar systems...
