There's this little terms and conditions thing I found:

That works well.

There's a $100 off right now that's why it's only $299. I remember seeing this thing for well over $450 when I first made this post.

I guess the regular warranty does apply and doesn't restrict it to 90 days like I originally thought.

Keep us posted on how you like the unit

Re: Navigon 5100?

The one concern I have is off roading with this. Not sure how many trails will show up. Are the Garmin maps proprietary? I wonder if I can add those maps to this unit. I'll probably get it this coming Friday.

Re: Navigon 5100?

I got Magellan 4250 from Costco for $250 with built-in traffic and 3 month free trial. Bluetooth, voice command, TTS, 4.5" screen and etc. I like it so far. This is top of the line from Magellan. Not the best gps however, for the money I paid.. It's good. GPS is very accurate and when I went to Cleghorn, it showed all trail.

Re: Navigon 5100?

I tried that unit last year and took it to Pismo. I did get some errors and it froze on a couple of occasions. Battery life wasn't very good either (not compared to Garmin's excellent battery). It did have a big screen. I liked it when it worked. I think I got the model just below yours.

Re: Navigon 5100?

So far, from what I've read and slightly experienced, is that Magellan's customer Service sucks. Thats why for my next GPS, I'm considering anything but, unless it from Costco where I can return it anytime

Not Calisun, but those look to be the typical "Broadway" mirrors that I always see at asian stores. I had one, but since the rear pillars are so big, I didn't see anything more with it. Maybe I was just using it wrong

Re: Navigon 5100?

I read through the reviews on Amazon. It didn't have too many favor reviews. One of the review said it takes 10 min to start up the device.

Re: Navigon 5100?

Reviews for this unit seem very mixed. I've also read GPSREVIEW, Newegg, and BestBuy's reviews. It was interesting enough for me to want to test it out.

I did see some people complain about that. If it doesn't start from when it comes out of box, you are clear. I was planning on returning it if it happened. From what I read on review, Garmin gets best reviews($$$$$: you get what you paid for). I was looking at Navigon model also, however, I see a lot of mixed reviews. Some are really good and some are really bad. From looking at functionality, it looks great and free traffic is always great thing. I use my treo 750 google map for my traffic. I have 3 month free with Magellan but I am not gonna renew when it expires..:P Good Luck. In past few month, I seem a lot of great deals on Garmin GPS with in $300 to $400 range. To me, this one is well worth $250. I use to have Tomtom510 and that unit was good but it wasn't accurate as Magellan and no TTS.. TTS does help you void looking at GPS screen unless GPS can say right street names:P
