So did you wire them into an open fuse slot, as mentioned here earlier?

Yes, i wired both of them into the fusebox(I used 2 of 3 slots that swissarmysuv mentioned in his post).

Looks great! I think I am going to do it too! But have you tried running both oulets at the same time? I hope they would both work, I am going to put my Sirius reciever in that box, and this saves me from exposing the wire, Thanks!
I believe the fuse for the factory wire is 10 amps. In simplest terms

Amps = Watts/Volts so the peak combined watts you could have going through the fuse at one time would be 120 watts.

Come on! Many vehicles come with outlets wired to be on all the time. This is only gonna drain the baattery if something is plugged into it.

My company car outlets stay on, I hate it. I always have to remember to unplug everything when I get out.

Re: How to add another 12V Power Outlet

Is this the spade terminal you are all using to plug into the fuse receptacle?

I just used a red crimp connector and trimmed the plastic off the end to expose the metal and pinch it to fit, others may have used those.

Re: How to add another 12V Power Outlet

I bought a recepticle today for my extra power outlet for the FJ.

Except I purchased an actual CIGARET LIGHTER outlet with an actual CIGARET LIGHTER to go in it.

With my luck I would be the one caught out camping with wet or lost matches, and be sitting looking at a Power Outlet of no use in starting a fire.

With an old style Cigaret Lighter, I might have a chance of starting a fire.

Plus if I start smoking cigarets (or weed) again, it will be handy.

So you think these would work? I know lack of liability So you ended up wiring one directly to the fuse slot for live power after all?
Thanks again.

This site is awesome. I have checked out a few other fj forums and this by far exceeds all the others.

I did both, when I did the power for the 12v I installed in the box, I tapped the factory wire, when I installed a 12v for my garmin behind the dash I just stuck it into the fuse slot.

Long as you can trim one of those to fit the fuse slot, they will work.

Labeling stuff helps if a fuse blows down the road

Re: How to add another 12V Power Outlet

I use these

THat way I do not have unfused wires running around. I hate the smell of burning insulation.

I do not double up the fuses like you can do, I just use them to tap off with a fused wire.
