If you want, feel free to edit your orig post to include those part numbers for those that want a factory plug.

Re: How to add another 12V Power Outlet

Can this be done with an FJ that doesn't have the 12V outlet already? The title of the thread implies that you're (obviously) adding a new outlet. Is there wiring or anything that isn't in the FJ because it doesn't already have that particular upgrade? This would be quite an awesome thing to have in my truck!

All FJs that I know have the 12v infront, I don't believe you can get one without. That said you can add as many 12v sockets as you want, you can tap the factory wire or run a new wire, it depends on how you want to do it. Some members have even added a 2nd fuse box.

Re: How to add another 12V Power Outlet

you know what, looking through the other posts, i think i read wrong - i meant adding a 115v outlet. i didn't really realize what I was reading, just reading it over. i want to be able to plug in and charge stuff if i'm out and about or not at home - a laptop and such.

i guess i meant is it possible to add the regular plug like the one in the back with the upgrade package?

Might want to do a search on that. I think there is a thread about failed attempts ...

Well first off, if you just wanted to install the factory inverter, the factory wiring is not there. So if you want an inverter, you'll need to do all the wiring yourself.

The easy and simple is to install a 12v socket and buy a socket inveter and plug it into the 12v socket when you need it.
