How come nobody installs their CB this way?

There are two large rubber grommets that you can run your antenna wire through, on on passenger side and one on drivers side . Check under the the hood and follow wiring harness and hood release on the driver's side and you will see it. Passenger side location is about the same.

I have the same CB and I mounted it on the center console so either driver or passenger can get to it.

That would work. Prefer an install that accommodates the shotgun using the CB.
