Opinions on bets after market Stereo set up

I was wondering what the opinion are on the best replacement for the stock stereo are?

Replaced speakers all around, added a sub
still sounds like crappers...

Yeah I've been looking at that and Kenwood DPX502. I don't have a need for DVD/Nav either, and I really, really hate the look of a single din head unit on a double din space.
