I am getting ready to purchace a CB and have been trying to decide where to mount it. I would like to buy a full sized unit rather a hand held or the Cobra 75.
I have searched through this forum for hours and have only seen a couple of pics of mounting locations. There must be some more creative mounting locations that you guys and gals have come up with.
Lets see em!!

I've got my Uniden PC78XLT (full sized, with built-in SWR meter) mounted vertical facing up, bracketed to the console. My right leg rests against it when I drive, but it's not uncomfortable, and the mic is easy to reach (mounted on the right side of the radio).
I'll try to get a pic tomorrow and post it. It's not a unique position, but there's not many places you can mount a full-sized radio (within reach). I stole the idea from another forum user, that has the same radio. I tell ya, this forum and the users are the greatest; I'm glad I joined!
One thing you might want to remember, regarding antennas: I ditched the Firestik 'fire-ring' connector, and went with a standard-type connection. The grounding was too finicky, and now I have a solid ground connection. Really helped the SWR's. Plus, the fire-ring is really flimsy, and you can break the ground connection within the ring if you crank down too hard (which, I'm sure I did). Anyway, just my $.02 worth...

Reason: gotta get spellcheck, one of these days...
I think the #1 problem most people have with the firering is cranking down too hard. You can break the internal connection if you do that. My ground is rock solid on my firering setup with near perfect SWRs, but I had to destroy one to figure that out.
My CB choice is still the 75 wx st stealth mounted in the center console. Easily removable and stuffed in the glove box and works great.
Not trying to be cute here, really. You can attach the CB mounting bracket to the roof structure. If I still had my headliner, I would simply trace around where you need to the bracket to go, then cut through the headliner.
The forward roof has a boxed section that you can see above. Just use a few 3/4" sheet metal screws up into that to attach the CB bracket.
An alternative method without cutting a big hole into the headliner would be to use some spacers, say 1" long X 1/2". Run longer sheet metal screws through these spacers, say 1.5" long. Drill 1/2" holes through the headliner and then mount the bracket that way.

Thanks Air2Air. That is a location I would like to use. Someone posted a thread where they glued a block of wood to the roof , reinstalled the headliner and screwed the mount into place. I have not peeked under the headliner yet and assumed, by that posts description, that there was nothing to attach to, such as a rib. Another location under consideration, space permitting, is where the rear diff ATRAC switch are located by moving all the switches to the center console just in front of the cup holder, replacing the original switch panel with 1/8" ABS plastic and mount the CB there, with some sort of support inside the dash to hold radio in place. As I said though, I have not looked behind that panel to see how much clearance there is. That is my favorite idea!
BTW Awesome truck!!
