Re: Yellow Fj Marker for your Garmin Nuvi

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as rude. I'm far from a pro at this either, but I did do about 12 versions of the VDB before it actually worked in my 660. Slowly but surely I learned what I should try NOT to do. If you visit the link in the first post there's lots of good trial and error info!

I didnt get that vibe from your post...
I have been trying to figure this out for a couple days now but not learning very much until I read your post which I am trying now. Downloaded GIMP and looking at this program now. Made some progress but you will probably beat me before I finish it. Appreciate all the info too. Thanks!

Smile Re: Yellow Fj Marker for your Garmin Nuvi

Just got off work to see my post had some responses.

Anyways I changed my first post and uploaded the file again..

I like the one Mcleod posted..

As for do I like my 650.. Its great.. Takes a little time to find sats in the cold but have had solid green signal bars with no problems so far. Costo had a good deal on them for $300.. I would have like to have had a waypoint plotter for off road use bit other than that It will at least get me to the trail head.

Hopefully I can make some Topo maps or find custom ones for forest service roads.

Re: Yellow Fj Marker for your Garmin Nuvi

I have a titanium marker now....just need to figure out how to do the transparency part of it. Learning GIMP right now. They work on a Nuvi 200W.

Re: Yellow Fj Marker for your Garmin Nuvi

Should work with the 300 and 350. According to the Garmin web site the vehicle icons work on all the Nuvi's.

Re: Yellow Fj Marker for your Garmin Nuvi

They should work on all of the Nuvi line. I will see if I can get a TRD to look halfway decent. I have just finished with the Titanium and am in the process of testing to make sure I have cleaned up all of the artifacts.

I will work on a pictorial for installation. It's very simple once you've done it once, so that shouldn't be a problem.

UPDATE:Titanium FJ for any Nuvi.

Re: Yellow Fj Marker for your Garmin Nuvi

Here's a quick tutorial on using these new icons.

Step 1:

When you first plug your Nuvi into your computer with the USB cable, you should get an window with lots of options. You will want to choose to view the files with Windows Explorer.

Step 2:

You should see all of the above folders. We want the "Garmin" folder.

Step 3:

Now we want to open the "Vehicle" folder which is where all of your vehicle icons are stored.

Step 4:

Now we need to find where you saved the .srf file that you have downloaded here. Above shows where I saved mine and what the icon should look like. Make sure you still have the Garmin window open as well as the window where your file is so that we can click and drag.

Step 5:

Click and drag your selected .srf file into your "Vehicle" folder. It should look like the above image (you may or may not have the same vehicles I have installed.)

Now comes the part with no pictures and everything I am listing is how it is on my 660, the locations may vary depending on your model.

Unplug your Nuvi and allow it to boot up. Then choose your settings icon (mine is a wrench on the home screen.) Select Map. You should see a button for Vehicle that says change. Choose this. Scroll through your loaded vehicles until you find your FJ. Choose the FJ and it should be displayed on the map. Press OK and you are good to go!
