A while back I posted a question about a problem I was having with my Ipod and in particular the volume level I was hearing. I would crank my IPod volume all the way up then I would still crank my FJammer to like 50 something to listen to AC/DC some hip hop or whatever I wanted to hear thumping base and I was disappointed. It was louder than my last car but still seemed weak since I have the sub in the back and nine freakin' speakers.
Well here is the funny conclusion all the sudden today on my way home from lunch it dawned on me. A song came on and I heard the volume dial down a bit now I keep the sound check on because some of the softer music on my Pod was recorded so low with out sound check I have to crank the volume up all the time when one of them comes on. So it dawned on me was my sound check option on my IPod not allowing me to hear the full possibilities of my FJammer. Well I turned off sound check and BAM!!! the license plate rattlin' base started to kick in and 25 seemed awfully loud. That stereo kicks butt now maybe some of you true stereo heads might be able to talk about some of the down falls but my ears are not that sensative and for what I use it for it is better than any stereo I have ever had in a vehicle. Though I would share that funny story.
Yeah FJ if you are not familiar with the sound check option you will find it on the IPod under settings just make sure it is turned up and you will hear the true blast if you have had it off then you have been hearing it if you have had it on trust me totally different when you have it off.
I assume by stock you mean with out option two in which case you might not have even option one. I think the answer is going to be yes. Because what the Sound Check feature was doing was dropping the volume to match song for song. So I would not notice it on the soft stuff because I was in the 30's and figured that is how high I had to take those but noticed it on the metal etc.. because I would go to 50's and still not seem loud enough. Try it out play some tunes with and with out the sound check on but I think you will find it does make a difference on even a stock. The biggest thing you find out if you do not have to have nor should you have the IPod's volume all the way up. You should have that turned up about half way or so and then do the rest of volume control via the FJammer.
